BBC Breakfast star, 42, gives birth and beams in heartwarming hospital photo

BBC Breakfast star Emma Vardy has some exciting ‘breaking news’ to share after giving birth to her son.

In a post shared on Instagram, the presenter wrote how ‘smitten’ she is over her little boy, while revealing the adorable newborn’s name.

Uploading a picture of her holding her baby from her hospital bed, Emma, 42, wrote in her caption: ‘Presenting my best breaking news ever ❤️.

‘Baby boy Jago Fionn is here. At just a few hours old, playing a little camera shy.

‘Huge thanks to the dedicated & talented midwives & doctors at Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital, for looking after us so well 🙏 Smitten & so in love 😍.’

The TV star has received a rush of congratulatory messages, with one person commenting underneath the photo: ‘Wow 😮! Huge congratulations to you all.’

‘Congratulations! Jago Fionn, what a beautiful name,’ another said, while someone else added: ‘Congratulations to all the family.’

Earlier this month, Emma announced that she was embarking on a ‘new chapter’ as she began her maternity leave.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), she shared a picture of herself sitting on top of two washing machines while holding up laundry.

‘Well that’s me off on mat leave!! Resigned to an eternity of housewife chores & dirty laundry. Career girl out,’ she wrote.

‘(And if u believe that you’ll believe anything 😜) Celebrated the start of this new chapter with cocktails at this perfectly disguised speakeasy!! 🧼 #TheWashhouse.’

In June this year, Emma shared a sweet post on Instagram after a sun-filled trip to the beach with her other half Aaron Adams, writing in the caption: ‘Made sure we got a few summer surf trips in before 2 become 3 🤰.’

After tying the knot last year, the BBC News star celebrated their six-month wedding anniversary in September with a post that read: ‘It’s been six months!! 💍 Six months of so much fun and happiness with you by my side, the one who always lift me up!! 💜(swipe)🤍xx.’

BBC Breakfast airs every day from 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
