Holiday parties are shifting into final gear and to elevate your ugly sweater rotation, Yohji Yamamoto has reinterpreted a seasoned classic.
Released under his WILDSIDE label and made in collaboration with fellow Japanese designer Ryota Murakami of pillings, the Unstable Nordic Pullover looks like any festive top you’d find at an unassuming department store or a cabin gift shop up in the mountains. To take things to characteristically Yohji levels, however, the garment features a baggy, oversized fit and has been woven with asymmetric pockets at the base.
Additional highlights include holes that have been purposefully laid out throughout the top to give a distressed look that the two brand’s want the user to embrace as the sweater accumulates with age. For those looking to purchase, the WILDSIDE x pillings Unstable Nordic Pullover is made with 100% wool in Japan, made available in a white and black iteration for $1,200 USD each.
