Zoe Ball on Fatboy Slim’s Geography degree
Zoe Ball reminisced about a time with her ex-husband Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, 60, in a rare comment about their marriage during her live show on Wednesday.
The BBC Radio 2 Breakfast host was told by a listener that today marks World Town Planning Day, which triggered a memory of her ex-spouse from before he became a famous DJ.
Speaking to the show’s travel reporter Richie Anderson, she said: “Do you know who studied planning as part of a Geography degree?”
An intrigued Richie replied: “Who?”
“My dear ex-husband, the father of my children,” she spilled. “The Fatboy, he studied a bit. Whenever we were in a plane and we’d be flying over [a place], he’d start telling me how that town was planned, which was absolutely fascinating.

“And what did he do with it? He left it all behind and went and made crazy dance music.
“That’s what happens people,” she added, before swiftly moving on.
The couple met through the music world in Ibiza when Zoe was presenting on BBC Radio 1 and he was playing a gig.
They went on to marry in 1999 and, apart from a brief seperation in 2003, continued to stay together until 2016.
During their 17 years of marriage, they had two children; Woody, 22, and Nelly, 12.

Announcing their split, they said in a joint statement: “With great sadness we are announcing that we have separated.
“After many exciting adventures together over the last 18 years we have come to the end of our rainbow.
“We are still great friends and will continue to support each other and raise our beautiful children together, living next door but one. X Zoe & Norm.”
Over time, the pair remained on good terms and earlier this year, he joined her in the studio ahead of Glastonbury.
In a light-hearted exchange live on the show, Norman was taken aback when she almost forgot his name during the introduction.
She told listeners: “I now welcome to the show somebody you may know from The Housemartins, Pizzaman, Beats International – I nearly forgot what you were called then, sorry.
“And such things as our marriage. It is Fatboy Slim aka Norman Cook.”
Following their split, she struck up a romance with Billy Yates, who sadly took his own life in 2017.
Earlier this year, she is said to have called it quits with her latest known boyfriend Michael Reed.
