English coastal town that has the country's warmest beach in autumn is star of new film | The Sun

A SEASIDE town with the UK's warmest beach is set to feature in a brand new film.

Cromer, in Norfolk, will be the location of Seaside Special, a new film coming out next month.

The film is set during summer 2019, as an "affectionate homage [to] quintessentially English humour through German eyes".

It will look at the changes across Britain during Brexit, with the divisive decision played out on screen.

The film has already won a Cambridge Film Festival Audience Award and was given a "Special Mention" at the Hofer Filmtage 2021.

Director Jens Meurer said "Thematically, Seaside Special is about more than Brexit.

"Cromer and its theatre tackle important current issues in culture on a local, human level: 'real' live experiences vs. digital values, authenticity, community.

"Seen through the lens of Cromer, these issues are in focus and part of the answer to the question of what makes a healthy society these days."

It isn't the first time Cromer's has been used as a filming location.

Back in 2017, the BBC used the town as part of its Christmas adverts, as well as a short film.

Cromer is also home to a Grade II listed pier, built 115 years ago and one of only five in the country to have a working theatre.

Other reasons the town is famous is for its Cromer Crab, as well as the Banksy art piece near the pier.

And research has also found that it is the warmest beach in the UK in autumn.

The study, conducted by Parkdean Resorts found that Cromer Beach has average temperatures of 17C during the cooler months.

It was also named the sunniest beach, with an average of 7.2 hours of sun a day in autumn.
