Halloween krispie cakes recipe is ‘perfect for Halloween’ and can be easily made

Halloween is the perfect time for a treat, and these chocolatey rice krispie cakes are ideal for a party or something for yourself this autumn.

It is now almost time to get out your costume and trick-or-treat basket as Halloween is just around the corner, and this time of year would not be complete without some kind of dessert to enjoy.

These rice krispie cakes are not only very simple to make but you don’t even need to turn on your oven to make them, and professional chef John Watts has said they are so good they will “take you back to your childhood.”

Watts developed this spooky bake recipe and first learned his cooking skills by working under Jamie Oliver. He now enjoys teaching people how to cook through his TikTok account @jonwatts88. John is also a cookbook writer where he teaches “deliciously simple recipes to inspire home cooks.”

John said: “These orange-coloured chocolate and the spooky decorations make these fun for Halloween. These are always a favourite for kids (and also adults too) [which] makes these perfect for Halloween.

Instructions

Grease and line a baking tin with parchment paper and set it aside for now.

In a saucepan, melt the butter, marshmallows and chocolate over medium heat, until the mixture has fully melted and combined.

Next, take the saucepan off the heat and pour the rice snaps into the mixture. Keep mixing until the rice snaps are fully coated.

Pour the rice snaps mixture into the baking tin and press firmly down with a spoon. Use the spoon to smooth the surface of the mixture as well.

In another saucepan, melt the milk chocolate for decoration in a heatproof bowl over a pot of boiling water. Once fully melted, pour over the rice snaps.

Next, in another heatproof bowl, melt the white chocolate for decoration over the pot of boiling water. Once fully melted, add the orange food colouring to the mixture. Once the chocolate is a bright orange colour, pour the mixture all over the rice snaps.

At this point, you can decorate them with other cake Halloween decorations such as googly eyes for cakes, which you can buy from Amazon, Hobbycraft or at your local supermarket at this time of year.

Place the rice krispies in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to let them set. Take them out and cut them into 16 squares, and your deliciously frightful rice krispies are ready to serve.
