I flew to Egypt for some me-time after my divorce but was engaged again within 10 days | The Sun

SHE planned the trip she'd been wanting to go on for decades to get some me-time after her divorce.

But Gina quickly discovered she was going to get something else on the trip, after forming a close friendship and then falling in love with her tour guide Abdel.

Just 10 days after she arrived in Egypt, Abdel popped the question – and the couple tied the knot eight months later.

In a video on TikTok, Gina shared her unique love story, as she wrote: "I'm going to Egypt to heal from my divorce".

"I ended up being proposed to 10 days later and married 8 months later."

She added in the caption: "The Egyptian way. We got married 'ala tool' (as soon as)."

In another video, Gina opened up further about how the relationship had begun, explaining that she headed to Egypt in 2021 after her divorce.

She said that prior to her marriage split, she had always wanted to go to Egypt.

And while her then-husband eventually agreed, the trip never happened because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Shortly after that, Gina called time on the marriage.

"Of course it took me some time to get it together after my divorce but I booked my flight and I ended up going to Egypt on a solo trip," she said.

The journey was more than a little stressful as Gina's luggage was misplaced as she'd flown in from a connecting flight in Switzerland.

"When I got to the airport, I had no cell service and all I had was $5 in my pocket," she recalled.

"And I remember giving it to a man at the airport and telling him that I needed to make a phone call to my guide and let him know…

"So I get in contact with this guy and he tells me 'Ok, no problem, as soon as you get out of the airport, I'll be waiting for you with your taxi'."

Once she got through customs, she entered the very quiet airport, at the end of which she spotted a "tall a*s Egyptian man" waiting for her.

"The tall ass Egyptian man who picked me up from the airport, who wasn't even supposed to be my guide at the beginning, we ended up being like this," she said, crossing her fingers to indicate their closeness.

"We became the bestest of friends. And in the 10 days we were there he asked me to marry him and I said yes."

They got married just three months later, and now run an Egyptian touring company together.

"That very small decision of going to Egypt led me to live the happiest life I've ever lived," she gushed.

People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: "Well dam how do you do it? I got divorced been in Egypt twice and other different places and nothing."

"When you’re the chosen one, they come to you, you don’t go to them," Gina replied.

"You’ll be drinking coffee one day, and boom! you’re engaged."

"10 days? He waited a long time," another commented.

"In Egypt usually they ask u for marriage after 10 minutes seeing you!"
