For Young Thug‘s first single since he dropped off Business is Business back in June, he enlisted the help of musical (and romantic) collaborator Mariah the Scientist to amplify its delivery. Earlier today, Thugger unveiled “From A Man,” which comes in response to Mariah’s cut, “From A Woman.”
Though that’s not to say the two tracks are sonically interconnected in any way – aside from their titles and cover art, that is. “From A Man” is a classic, upbeat Thug track, seeing the rapper spit a constant stream of free-flowing bars over three-and-a-half minutes of crisp production.
“If I ain’t one of the greats, then tell me who it is / I been focusin’ on my babies just ’cause they my kids / I took off all my necklaces, couldn’t see the plot twist / Magnificent purposes, you could tell by the Letterman,” the rapper asserts on the chorus.
As for Mariah, “From A Woman” also serves as the lead single of her forthcoming To Be Eaten Alive album, which is slated to hit streaming on October 27. “Won’t call you Slime ’cause it don’t fit/ I see you as more than this,” she subtly shouts to Thugger.
