Travis Scott grilled over deadly Astroworld tragedy that killed 10

Travis Scott was questioned ‘for several hours’ this week over the deadly crush at Astroworld festival.

In November, 2021, 10 concertgoers died and many more were injured when a crowd of roughly 50,000 surged forwards, leaving some unable to breathe.

Hundreds of lawsuits were filed against the Sicko Mode rapper, as well as promoters Live Nation and others involved in the event.

Earlier this year, it was ruled that the 32-year-old would not be indicted, and that ‘no single individual was criminally responsible’ for the tragedy.

On Monday, AP reports that he was questioned in a deposition in Houston that lasted eight hours, in connection with the lawsuits.

‘Travis Scott’s deposition is typical legal procedure,’ his spokesperson told the outlet in a statement.

‘What is not typical is how the media continues to focus on him despite being cleared of any wrongdoing by extensive government investigations, including by the Houston Police Department.

‘Travis is fully cooperating with the legal process while still remaining committed to his tour in support of his record-breaking album, Utopia, and his charitable efforts to support at-risk communities.’

On November 5, 2021, more than 50,000 people were in attendance at Scott’s Astroworld Festival when the night ended in tragedy.

As the musician appeared on stage, concertgoers surged forward, with countless fans trampled and crushed.

In June, a grand jury in Texas ruled that he will not be indicted over the incident.

District Attorney Kim Ogg confirmed at the time: ‘In this instance, the grand jury of the 228th District Court of Harris County found that no crime did occur, that no single individual was criminally responsible.’

‘While waiting patiently for the District Attorney’s decision to not file charges, Travis Scott has been inaccurately and wrongly singled out, despite stopping the show three separate times and being unaware of the events as they were unfolding,’ his spokesperson later told CNN.

‘Now that this chapter is closed, we hope for the government efforts to focus on what is most important – stopping future heartbreaking tragedies like Astro world from ever occurring again.’

Scott’s attorney Kent Schaffer added: ‘It’s a huge weight that has been removed from his shoulders.

‘He’s looking forward to getting back home after being cleared by the grand jury.’
