Monday Night Football is one of the few places Snoop Dogg, Chris Stapleton and Cindy Blackman Santana could link up on a track. On the trio’s take on beloved Phil Collins‘ classic “In the Air Tonight”, eight-time Grammy Award winner Stapleton puts his own spin on Collins’ lyrics with Snoop infusing catchy football-centric ad-libs and renowned drummer Blackman Santana riffing on percussion.
Beginning tonight, the spin of Collins’ timeless song will appear ahead of ESPN‘s “Two Games, One Night.” However, “Heavy Action,” the infamous Monday Night Football theme music, isn’t going anywhere – it will directly follow the “In the Air Tonight” open, and then progress right into the game. Check out a preview below.
The full version of the opening premieres at gametime tonight ahead of both ESPN’s game (Saints at Panthers, 7:15 p.m. ET) and ABC‘s game (Browns at Steelers, 8:15 p.m. ET), and then continue ahead of all Monday Night Football games as well as ESPN’s Week 18 Saturday Doubleheader, Super Wild Card, and its first Divisional playoff game.
Elsewhere in the music ether, Blink-182’s OG members have announced the title and release date of their first album together in 11 years.
