Takayuki Fujii’s nonnative and Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER have become fashion denizens due to their unique approaches to garment design. Now the two brands are harmonizing their design approaches with their new “OZISM” collaboration.
The two united for their “OZISM” collaboration in November of last year, with an assortment of intricate designs and outerwear garments. Now the two are building upon last year’s offering with a new collection that continues to honor movie director Yasujiro Ozu. On top of being inspired by Ozu, the collection has a keen eye for Japanese aesthetics and history.
Comprising the collection is a selection of refined, yet functional everyday pieces including coats, jackets, relaxed pants, T-shirts and accessories. Outerwear highlights include the “MONK” coats and jackets that center weather-ready fabrics like nylon with traditional Japanese detailing. Another highlight includes the relaxed easy pants, which have been crafted in partnership with Gramicci.
Elsewhere in the collection are accessories like fleece neck warmers and caps in shades of brown and deep sea blue. Finishing the offering features a collaboration with Italian footwear brand, GUIDI, for its signature “BIG DADDY” boots. The silhouette has been tossed in a brown suede upper with a deep cork-colored Vibram sole.
Take a closer look at the offering in the gallery above. The new nonnative x UNDERCOVER collaboration is set to release on Saturday, October 7 online at UNDERCOVER and COVERCHORD. The collaboration will also be available in-store at UNDERCOVER Aoyama, Shinjuku Isetan Men’s and Hankyu Men’s Osaka.
