This Morning staff ‘claim NTA nomination is a ‘two fingers’ up at critics in the wake of Phillip Schofield affair scandal’
This Morning staff have reportedly said the show’s NTA nomination was a ‘two fingers’ up at critics in the wake of the Phillip Schofield affair scandal.
The ITV programme has received a nod in the Best Daytime category alongside The Chase, Repair Shop and Loose Women, despite the furore surrounding Philip’s admission to an ‘unwise but not illegal’ relationship with a much younger colleague.
In the months surrounding the scandal, in which Phillip stepped down from ITV altogether, This Morning has faced much criticism while there was also talk the programme could be axed from screens.
However, according to The Mirror, the nomination sticks ‘two fingers’ up at the naysayers, with sources on the show remarking they are ‘surprised and very grateful that our viewers are supporting us’.
The insider went on to add: ‘We’d love to win especially for our fantastic producers and crew who have been making programmes every day despite all the troubles and unfair criticism that was thrown at a show they’re proud to work on.’

MailOnline have contacted This Morning representatives for comment.
It comes as Holly Willoughby has been told by viewers to ‘move on’ from This Morning after she was snubbed in the National Television Award’s Best Presenter category.
The TV presenter, 42, failed to gain a nomination in the awards shortlist, after the furore over her former co-host Phillip Schofield’s affair with a younger colleague.
Following her snub, fans have urged Holly to try a new path after she missed out on a nomination in the category for the second year on the run.
Holly, who has never won the prize, received nods every year between 2021 and 2018 after her chemistry with Phillip, 61, proved a hit with viewers on ITV shows This Morning and Dancing On Ice.
However fans have now suggested that ITV’s golden girl’s crown may be slipping, as she missed out on the nomination in favour of her co-star Alison Hammond.
It has been a rocky year for Holly, who was tied up in an ITV scandal when it was revealed Phillip had resigned from the broadcaster and was dropped by his talent agency YMU in May after admitting to an ‘unwise but not illegal’ relationship with a male colleague on This Morning.
While Holly managed to hold onto her coveted role on the show after she insisted she was not aware of her friend and co-star’s relationship with the man, viewers have suggested it might be time for a change.

Commenting on the snub, one This Morning viewer said: ‘I think she needs to move on and do something else.’
Another person agreed, and said: ‘Goodbye Holly, your time to move on.’
A third added: ‘Good. Just wish ITV would snub her now and get rid of her.’
One other wrote: ‘I think ITV are making a mistake by pinning all their hopes on HW. I think her popularity was on the wane long before all the kerfuffle about Schofe, and although she’s done nothing wrong, I think she should move on.’
A different person also predicted it was the end for Holly’s role on the show, and said: ‘And so her downfall begins.’

Another added: ‘Holly who?’
While one person questioned: ‘How is she still on screen?’
One person insisted that Holly was the glue of the show, writing: ‘Holly is deserves the award and her pay increase. She is the only one keeping the show together.’
Holly and Phil had been longlisted for the best TV presenter prize, alongside fellow This Morning hosts Alison, Dermot O’Leary, Rylan Clark and Martin Lewis, but only Alison and Martin made the cut.
