Victoria Mary Clarke reveals how she met Shane MacGowan
Shane MacGowan has been released from hospital and is recovering at home, as his wife shared a health update on his life-threatening brain condition.
The 65-year-old is suffering from encephalitis, which is an uncommon but serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed and can prove life-threatening.
Shane’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke shared a picture of the singer smiling in his hospital bed.
She also shared a health update on X, formerly known as Twitter, and said to her 33.7 thousand followers: “Shane got out of hospital! We are deeply and eternally grateful to all of the doctors and nurses and staff at St Vincent’s it’s the best!
“And special thanks to Tom Creagh and Brian Corscadden for your help @ShaneMacGowan @poguesofficial.”

Shane’s fans rushed to the comment section to wish The Pogues star well as he returned home from hospital.
One user commented: “Thank you for the updates. He’ll be in my thoughts this holiday season xo.”
Another fan said: “Awe That’s Great News! So glad to hear this especially as it’s not long till Christmas Day! Fairytale of New York for Number 1 for Christmas Day!” (sic)
A third person expressed: “This is brilliant news. I’m so happy for you both and now that he will be home for Christmas. Hope you have the best one yet. Give my best to Shane.”

The Fairytale of New York singer has suffered a number of health complications and is believed to have been admitted to hospital in July.
Around the same time, Shane also reportedly contracted shingles which spread to his eye.
Shane revealed last year that he was using a “sumptuous” hospital bed and needed daily help from carers due to his mobility issues.
This came after he suffered a nasty fall which resulted in him breaking his pelvis in 2015.
