Adam Thomas talks about joining the Strictly line-up

Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas has asked fans to stop comparing him to 2019 Strictly Come Dancing winner Kelvin Fletcher.

The soap actor, who was revealed as the first celebrity to join the 2023 line-up earlier this year, took to Instagram to urge followers to “not expect too much” on Saturday evening.

“Just a heads up as well this Saturday night. Please, please don’t expect too much from me,” he pleaded.

“I will get better, okay? I know everyone has high hopes and thinks I’ll do amazing.

“Give me time, alright? And stop b****y comparing me to Kelvin Fletcher!”

After a fit of giggles he added: “I am not Kelvin. The more you compare me to Kelvin – the more my anxiety goes through the roof!”

Kelvin lifted the Glitterball Trophy four years ago alongside his professional dance partner Oti Mabuse.

The actor and model signed up last minute to the dance show after reality star Jamie Laing pulled out due to injury.

13 weeks later, Kelvin and Oti stormed to the final and were crowned the winners.

Adam also recently revealed that he has started bickering with his wife, Caroline, over his lack of dance experience.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “She’s a dance teacher. But no, she’s not given me any tips.

“We literally had this argument the other day because I was like, ‘Why have you not taught me how to dance after all these years I’ve been with you?’

“And she was like, ‘Well, you’ve never taught me how to act.'”

Adam added: “I was like, ‘Yeah, very good point actually!'”

The soap actor is best known for playing Adam Barton in ITV’s Emmerdale and Donte Charles in BBC’s Waterloo Road.
