Despite the soft texture of the egg, the hack kept both the white and yolk perfectly intact with no crumbliness.

The video was a hit with other users of the social media platform, 1.9 million of which have viewed it.

One person was so impressed that they likened the extracted egg yolk to a “seed from an avocado”. Many other influencers on the app re-shared the tip, also admitted that they had only just stumbled across it after some 30 years.

Separating the cooked yolk from the egg white is useful for many things, one of which is to make devilled egg.

Simply mix the yolks into a bowl with mayonnaise, a teaspoon of English mustard, salt and paprika, then shake a few drops of Tabasco on top.

Stir and mash with a fork, or blitz with a stick blender before piping the tangy filling back into the hollowed whites.
