I haven’t washed my hair in a year but it’s still so shiny & my bloke loves sniffing it – the secret hack I swear by | The Sun

A WOMAN has revealed that she hasn’t washed her hair in a year.

However, while you might expect her locks to look a bit of a greasy mess, you’ll be stunned to know that her hair is in fact super shiny and actually smells really nice.

The beauty fan named Shelly explained that rather than washing her hair with shampoo and conditioner, like many of us do, she instead makes her own DIY hair mask.

Using flax seeds, which you can buy for as cheap as 99p from Morrisons, Shelly claimed that her simple hack makes her smell fresh, so much so that her boyfriend loves sniffing her locks.

Sharing her flax seed mask on social media, Shelly said: “I have technically never washed my hair. I do other things to make sure it is nice and clean but this is my favourite!”

She then revealed: “I haven't washed my hair in over a year, since it grew back.

Single mums in 40s should not be dating, says Sex & City’s Candace Bushnell

“Boiled flax seeds – get it thick and goopy.

“Nice and clean and chemical free.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @shellybabyyy, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and has since amassed a staggering 4.1 million views.

Social media users were stunned at Shelly’s hair hack and were eager to reflect this in the comments.

One person said: “I want to try this.”

Another added: “Doing this.”

A third commented: “Your hair and skin look so healthy! Love that!!”

Meanwhile, many were eager to claim that you mustn't flush the flax seeds down the sink.

One user penned: “You’re supposed to drain out the seeds and reuse them lol.”

A second wrote: “I feel like this might be bad for my drain.”

Whilst a third stated: “DON'T WASH SEEDS DOWN THE DRAIN.”

To this, Shelly replied: “I’ve done this hundreds of times! Sometimes I drain them, sometimes I don’t!”

At the same time, someone else shared: “Okay so we need a video to see what your hair looks like after it’s washed out and dried.”

Shelly then responded: “The video is up! I made it right after it dried!”

In a follow-up clip, Shelly showed off her beautiful curly hair, as she claimed: “Pinky promise my drains are fine.

“This is my hair. It's not greasy. It's cute and curly.

“This is great for curls and everything.

“I'm gonna give you a tutorial and guess what? [I] might even [strain] the seeds.”

In a saucepan, Shelly demonstrated how she makes her hair mask, as she continued: “Approximately two cups of water. Once it's boiling, you wanna just dump in about a cup [of flax seeds].

“I let it boil for three minutes, and then I take it off the heat and let it sit for five.

“Once it's like this consistency, you wanna strain it – you just dump it through a fine mesh strainer.

“Once you have your bowl of boogers, you can put it in a mason jar.

“Last thing, it's also really, really good hair gel.

“I'll slick my hair up into a tight pony and be on the boat all day long in the summer, and it is slicked back.

“And then you wash it out and feel so good.”
