Following the recent news that Ashley Cain is once again going to become a father, two years on since the heartbreaking death of his daughter Azaylia to cancer, his ex-girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee has opened up about her heartache at the new development.

According to the grieving mum, Ashley allegedly stood at the grave of their daughter and asked her, “Can we have another baby?” leading Safiyaa to believe that there could be hope for them to resume their relationship and build a family.

The couple had previously discussed having another child together following the death of their little girl, however grief strained their relationship and the couple parted ways.

Yet now it has emerged that Ashley is to become a father for a second time, after it was revealed he is expecting a baby boy with a friend he has known since the age of 18 – something which shattered Safiyaa’s hopes of them rebuilding their family.

In a heartbreaking interview with The Sun, Safiyya, 36, said: “I don’t know why he would ask to have another baby with me knowing he’s sleeping with someone else.

“When he asked me, it was the moment I’d been waiting for. I sighed with relief that we could reunite and have a family again. It was at Azaylia’s garden in front of our daughter, such a precious, safe space for us."

She then claimed: “He said, ‘I don’t want another baby with another woman’, and asked if we could have one together.”

Safiyaa went on to reveal that she had been so overwhelmed with tears she couldn’t speak, before admitting over the next few weeks she had been anxiously waiting for Ashley to ask if they could get back together.

But in a development that appeared to blindside the grieving mum, Ashley instead revealed he was expecting a child with someone else – something which struck her “like a hurricane.”

In a further crushing blow, Safiyaa also confessed that because Ashley hadn’t named the identity of the mother, she had been inundated with thousands of messages of congratulations from people who believed she was pregnant again.

Struggling with the pain of the situation, Safiyaa went on to explain that the only reason she had spoken out was to stop “sugar-coating” the situation and admit she was “devastated.”

OK! have reached out to Ashley for comment.

In his own interview with The Sun, Ashley said: “It was painful for Safiyya but it was also painful for me as well to talk to her.

"We haven’t been together for a while now and it is inevitable that at some stage people are going to move on with their lives – that doesn’t mean that we can’t be friends and have an amazing relationship.

He then concluded: "I know Safiyya will always support me and I will always be there to support Safiyya."

Ashley revealed the news two weeks ago, which comes just two years on since his daughter Azaylia sadly lost her gruelling battle with leukaemia.

The precious tot had been diagnosed with the terminal illness at just eight weeks old, and suffered from numerous tumours on her lungs, stomach and kidneys in her short life.

Azaylia was given several rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital but tragically died at eight months.

In her memory, Ashley and Safiyya set up the Azaylia Foundation in the hopes of helping other families who were suffering from similar circumstances.
