Cleaning experts are urging homeowners to clear their radiators of dust and grime to make life slightly more tolerable this Winter.

The internet is rife with life hacks to reduce the financial burden of cold weather, yet one of the easiest wins is frequently overlooked by homeowners, and that’s keeping radiators clean.

Experts at Trade Radiators explained: “Cleaning radiators not only enhances their appearance but also significantly improves heating efficiency.

“By removing accumulated dirt, dust and grime, you can ensure that your heating system operates at its best, providing consistent warmth in every room.”

To simplify the chore, one content creator has shared a tool that’s perfectly designed to reach the parts of your radiators that are most likely harbouring dust.

Don’t miss… According to Matt Powell, who goes by @mattpowell05 on TikTok, using a cleaning brush on your radiator could save you precious energy.

Showing off his cleaning gadget in a clip, Powell demonstrated how sliding it down the middle of the radiator can remove clumps of dust that absorb heat.

His video was posted along with the tags #moneysaving #winter #costofliving #centralheating and #radiator.

Radiator cleaning brushes retail for just £7.99 on Amazon, while Lakeland sells a microfibre version of the tool for just £9.99, while Temu offers them for as little as £2.02.

The hack racked up more than 154,000 likes and several hundred comments from mesmerised viewers.

To avoid letting the dust create a mess once it’s fallen out of the radiator, one viewer proposed: “Put some kitchen roll or a puppy pad or paper or something below the radiator before your start for easy cleanup.”

To make the task easier, another viewer proposed dismantling the top grill of the radiator. She wrote: “You can pop the sides and top bit off those radiators pretty easily.”

For those who can’t get their hands on the handy gadget, an alternative hack was proposed by one savvy viewer.
