<\/p>\nIT'S the Christmas tradition that involves colleagues exchanging presents, without knowing who it's from.<\/p>\n
But one woman showed the importance of having a price limit on things, after being left sorely disappointed by what she was given.<\/p>\n

"This is why I don't play Secret Santa," Monique wrote over the top of her TikTok video. <\/p>\n
She showed herself taking items that she'd bought for her colleague out of the back – including a Fenty Beauty mascara, which retails for \u00a323.<\/p>\n
She then pulled out an \u00a38.99 Lanolips strawberry lip balm and a beauty sample. <\/p>\n
Monique then showed the bag she'd been given in return – which contained an orange, a cucumber, a banana and some little sweets. <\/p>\n
Clearly unimpressed with the gift, she hurriedly shoved the tissue paper back into the bag.<\/p>\n "First gift is what I gave my secret Santa," she wrote in the video caption. <\/p>\n "Second is what I got – I hate it here!"<\/p>\n And the comments section was quickly filled with people admitting they'd found themselves in similar situations. <\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n "Yep," one wrote. <\/p>\n "I\u2019m convinced people sign up for secret Santa for free stuff because this happens so often!"<\/p>\n "I only do Secret Santa if there\u2019s a budget and a wish list involved, otherwise I\u2019ll pass," another added.<\/p>\n "One time we did secret Santa at work and the guy who had me got fired the day we gave gifts and I got nothing," a third commented.<\/p>\n "My mum's work did secret santa, the budget was $25, my mom gave pjs set and she received a used tiny box of PAPER CLIPS!!" someone else wrote. <\/p>\n "How embarrassing!" another said. <\/p>\n "I would confront them and ask for their secret Santa gift in exchange for what she gave you."<\/p>\n "I swear I always make the best gifts and always get the most plain and bad ones," someone else said. <\/p>\n "People are greedy sometimes," another wrote. <\/p>\n "They\u2019ll get the cheapest thing and more than likely walk away with a better gift."<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/crop-24932510.jpg\")
