THERE is so much planning and preparation when it comes to travelling to another country with your little tot.<\/p>\n
The most important thing that is needed is that of a valid passport, and this can be rather confusing for first-time parents. Here's everything you need to know.<\/p>\n

Someone with parental responsibility for the child must apply for the passport.<\/p>\n
You need to give both parents' details when you apply. If you cannot provide the other parent's details, you need to say why.<\/p>\n
You will need to prove that your child is entitled to British nationality.<\/p>\n
You can\u00a0apply for a passport\u00a0both online or by post.<\/p>\n
<\/picture>LIGHTS OUT <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>HOLIDAY HELL <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n If you want to apply by post, you should be able to collect a paper form from the Post Office, or you can phone the Passport Adviceline to request a form sent to you by post.<\/p>\n A child's standard 34-page passport costs \u00a353.50 if you order via the government website or \u00a316 if you apply by paper form.<\/p>\n To apply online, you'll need:<\/p>\n Alternatively, you can apply by post by either:<\/p>\n Applying by post costs an extra \u00a39.50 and it may take longer to receive the passport.<\/p>\n After you've submitted the application, you'll need to ask someone to confirm your child's identity.<\/p>\n You can only confirm someone's identity if you:<\/p>\n You must work in a 'recognised profession', for example an accountant, nurse or social worker.<\/p>\n <\/picture>FATHERHOOD <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>PABLO ESCO-BEAR <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>HOUSE THAT <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>A CHANGED VIEW <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Be aware, there are also certain requirements for the photos you use for the passport.<\/p>\n When you apply for your child's passport, you must\u00a0provide two passport-sized identical photographs.<\/p>\n The photos must be 45mm high and 35mm wide.<\/p>\n For an online application, you will need to provide digital photos which must be clear and unedited.<\/p>\n For an application made for a baby, it is important to keep the following points in mind concerning the photographs:<\/p>\n You may support your child's head with your hands but they must not be visible.<\/p>\n Someone with parental responsibility must sign the application form.<\/p>\n If your child is aged 12 to 15, they need to sign the form as well.<\/p>\n From birth, your child will need a passport any time you leave the UK.
