The King and Queen showed they’re nothing if not low-key today, as they drove themselves to church at Balmoral this morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Charles and Camilla are, as the Queen and Prince Philip always did, enjoying an extended summer break – now into October – at their Scottish residence.<\/p>\n
This morning, the couple smiled at those gathered by the roadside on the short route from Balmoral to Crathie Kirk Church as they zipped past in a royal Audi.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While the king, 74, opted for a smart tweed suit, Queen Camilla, 76, looked stylish in an emerald green beret and suit, with a frilled white blouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While they joined a royal motorcade, the royals travelled without an aide in the car and appeared to enjoy chatting on the short route.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A new month: The King and Queen remain at Balmoral and were seen driving to church this morning at nearby Crathie Kirk<\/p>\n

It’s been a busy week for Camilla, who\u00a0attended the\u00a0Braemar Literary Festival on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>The King’s wife, 76, put on a stylish display – again in emerald, wearing a patterned frock when attending the dinner at the The Fife Arms hotel in the Scottish Highlands.<\/p>\n She was joined by British actress Dame\u00a0Judi Dench, 88, as well as\u00a0bestselling authors William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz and critic\u00a0Grace Dent.\u00a0<\/p>\n The three-day festival – which is running until Sunday – is being held in the Highland village in collaboration with The Queen\u2019s Reading Room, the book club founded by Camilla.\u00a0<\/p>\n First launched in January 2021, the online literary hub was inspired by the success of the then Duchess of Cornwall’s reading lists shared during the pandemic in 2020. It offers book recommendations and exclusive insight from the authors themselves.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Queen Camilla (pictured with Dame Judi Dench) showcased her fashion prowess in a statement leopard print dress as she attended the Braemar Literary Festival on Friday night<\/p>\n Camilla appeared in her element as she chatted to guests on Friday night – including photographer, filmmaker and author Mary McCartney and Literary Editor of the Spectator Sam Leith.<\/p>\n Her Majesty was also present at one of the festival\u2019s sold-out events held earlier today, \u2018The Allure of Comfort food to soothe and satisfy. Grace Dent and Rick Stein in conversation with Tom Parker Bowles\u2019.<\/p>\n The 55-year-old, who is\u00a0one of Britain’s only female Michelin star chefs, told The Mirror that Camilla is ‘really relaxed and easy-going’, and she said it was great to cook for the royal.<\/p>\n When it comes to what meal is ‘fit for a Queen’, Angela replied: ‘Anything and everything.’<\/p>\n She revealed that Camilla was ‘was like every other guest [she’s] ever cooked for’, saying ‘whatever is made for her, she’ll eat’.<\/p>\n Angela added: ‘I think when you get to a certain age, without being rude, of course, and you\u2019re as busy as she is with so many engagements, you\u2019ll eat whatever is simple and easy.’<\/p>\n Quite the line-up! Queen Camilla and Judi Dench arriving to their events at the literary festival<\/p>\n Connecting bookworms of all ages with heartfelt readings from the authors who penned the words, the Braemar Literary Festival, aims to ‘provide a forum to engage in spirited discussion’.<\/p>\n Camilla’s outing comes after\u00a0Michelin starred chef Angela Hartnett OBE revealed what it is like to cook for the Queen, after serving dinner at the\u00a0first ever Braemar Literary Festival last October.<\/p>\n
