HOLIDAYMAKERS in the UK have been raving about a "beautiful" underground cave – it has its own hidden lake & can even be rented out for private events.

With the half-term holidays just around the corner, parents will be looking for things to do to keep their little ones entertained.

One place that could do just that is a little-known tourist attraction in Liskeard, where they can see Cornwall's only underground slate mine.

The Carnglaze Caverns are nestled 60m below ground.

They were originally created by a group of local miners over 300 years ago, but have since opened as a tourist attraction.

There are three separate caverns to explore, including one that has since been flooded and transformed into an underground lake.

Visitors are given a safety briefing before going into the cavern.

They are then provided with a route plan and a helmet before being allowed to freely explore the three caves.

A series of information boards, and a free audio guide, provide customers with background details and additional information.

The Caverns are a cool 10C underground, so jumpers and sensible footwear are advised.

In addition to their status as a tourist attraction, the caves can also be hired out for weddings and other private events.

A series of musical performances also take place inside the cavern throughout the year.

The caverns can be found nestled among eight acres of woodland, with holidaymakers encouraged to enjoy an optional woodland walk at the end of their visit.

Attractions on the walk include a series of magical and mythical statues, as well as a maze of zigzag pathways, wildflowers, streams, and a waterfall.

Customers will also be able to take in a panoramic view of the nearby St Neot village on their walk.

Holidaymakers have also been raving about the attraction on TripAdvisor, where it's been awarded 4/5 stars from more than 700 ratings.

One person wrote: "The caverns are amazing and the underground lake is so beautiful."

While another added: "The caverns are very interesting and definitely worth visiting if you're in the area.

"The forest walk, complete with fairies, was enjoyed by the children."

And a third person wrote: "A magical idyllic place nestled in the heart of a rambling woodland.

"The old slate mine was definitely worth a visit, it was very atmospheric and thought provoking."

Entry tickets into the caverns cost £10 for a full-paying adult, while tickets for children aged 16 and under cost £8.

The UK is also home to a hidden cave made of crystals that fans call the most magical place in England.

Meanwhile, another 'wonderful' autumn attraction is returning to the UK – and tickets are just £5.

</picture>CAVE IN
