A UK airport has been forced to close after the terminal was flooded. <\/p>\n

Hundreds of hopeful holidaymakers had their plans dashed when Exeter Airport was forced to cancel several flights.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

All arrival flights for the rest of the day had to be cancelled which included flights from Zante as well as the Channel Islands and Newcaslte and Edinburgh.<\/p>\n

But it appears on the airport website that departures were still continuing although passengers were urged to speak to the airlines.<\/p>\n

A spokesman said: "Following heavy rain today Exeter Airport has had to close due to flooding affecting the terminal."<\/p>\n

The area around Exeter is under a string of Met Office weather warnings today.<\/p>\n

A yellow weather thunderstorm warning reads: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to some localised flooding and disruption to travel."<\/p>\n

According to the Met Office warning, there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.<\/p>\n

The warning adds: "There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.<\/p>\n

"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.<\/p>\n

"There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."<\/p>\n

And another part of the UK is under an amber thunderstorm warning.<\/p>\n

The severe\u00a0weather warning\u00a0has been issued for parts of\u00a0Devon\u00a0and\u00a0Somerset.<\/p>\n

It is in place from now until 4pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

And Dawlish, off the south coast of Devon, has been battered by the heavy downpour.<\/p>\n

The seaside town was covered in brown murky water as the rain appeared to break the sea bank.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
