DISNEYLAND Paris is magical. But with prices costing upwards of £2000 for a family of four for a 4-day break, that magic comes at a cost.

But Disney fans across the UK have found a way to claim back FREE money from their dream trip that’ll take the sting out of the high price tag.

This summer, Disneyland Paris partnered with the SkipTax app which allows UK guests to claim tax refunds on any shopping they do in the parks.

This means any toys, gifts or clothes bought in the theme parks can be redeemed against tax and the money saved will be sent straight to your bank account.

Disney fanatics have been sharing their experiences of the app and how much they've saved on a closed Facebook group for Brits.

Deeanne Banks from Plymouth visited the resort with her husband and two children in August this year and managed to claim back nearly £60 with the app.

She said: "I heard about SkipTax through a Disney group on Facebook I joined to get tips and advice before our trip.

“It was straightforward once you sign up to the app. It asks what days you are staying in France, and it gives you a countdown to when you need to finalise all your receipts.

"When uploading your receipts onto the app, you just take a screenshot, and it tallies up for you and calculates how much tax you will get back.

"We spent around €500 on souvenirs and are due to get £57 back, which we’re happy with.

</picture>LOCAL HAUNT

</picture>SHOW TIME

</picture>FEELING FESTIVE

</picture>DRINK IT IN

"It was very easy to use, and we would use it again.”

Guests who download the app can set up an account and use it to scan any shopping receipts.

The app then allows you to scan a barcode at the airport, train station or ferry terminal and the money is usually back in your account by the time you arrive home.

It's not a well-known service but it's very useful and a great way to get money back from a trip.

Occasionally, guests can be stopped at customs to double-check their claims on their return home.

"If you have receipts and goods ready for inspection, there will be no issue confirming your refund.

But it’s worth bearing in mind to keep all the goods in one place.

Susan Good from Essex also visited Disneyland Paris in August and managed to claim back £28, despite being one of the unlucky ones stopped at customs.

She said: "At the French Eurostar station in Lille, I had to produce the receipts and all the goods for them to go through.

"The staff were friendly, and it didn’t feel awkward or anything. I would 100 per cent use it again."

Susan only downloaded the app the day before her visit, after reading advice for fellow Disney fans on Facebook.

“I uploaded seven receipts in total and spent around €220 and I’ve “If you follow exactly what it says on the screen, it’s really very easy to follow.”

Others on the group advised that goods are strictly not supposed to be opened but several guests have had a slap on the wrist for wearing clothes purchased or for carrying toys.

One user commented: “I didn’t realise you weren’t supposed to open the items.

"I was wearing my new Minnie Mouse top when I got stopped but, luckily, they were friendly about it.”

Another said: “I’m so lucky I wasn’t stopped at customs as I had all of my purchases packed into three different suitcases!”
