{"id":83025,"date":"2023-09-19T12:45:43","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T12:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/happylifestyleinc.com\/?p=83025"},"modified":"2023-09-19T12:45:43","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T12:45:43","slug":"educating-yorkshire-mushy-star-shares-emotional-birthday-message","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/happylifestyleinc.com\/lifestyle\/educating-yorkshire-mushy-star-shares-emotional-birthday-message\/","title":{"rendered":"Educating Yorkshire Mushy star shares emotional birthday message"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Educating Yorkshire star Mushy who moved viewers to tears as he conquered his stammer shares emotional message on his 27th birthday &#8211; 11 years after appearing on the programme<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0Musharaf Asghar appeared on Educating Yorkshire, overcoming his stammer<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0Mel B reflects on &#8216;debilitating&#8217; childhood stutter while revealing she still has &#8216;daunting&#8217; moments with her speech\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eleven years on from Educating Yorkshire, one of the stars of the show has celebrated &#8216;the power of teachers&#8217; in a heartfelt social media post shared on his 27th birthday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Musharaf Asghar, who goes by Mushy, had an acute stammer when he appeared on the Channel 4 series aged 16.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Viewers got behind Mushy as he worked to conquer his stammer with the support of English teacher Mr Matthew Burton.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Burton urged the shy teenager to listen to music while reading.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Invited to give a speech in a special assembly at the end of the school year Mushy excelled, moving some fans to tears.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/18\/20\/75569141-12532493-image-m-54_1695066516676.jpg\" height=\"843\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Musharaf Asghar, who goes by Mushy (pictured) moved many viewers to tears when he overcame his stammer while appearing on\u00a0Educating Yorkshire 11 years ago<\/p>\n<p>Now, with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Huddersfield University, Mushy is a motivational speaker.<\/p>\n<p>However, he has not forgotten his earlier struggle &#8211; nor the encouragement and help he received from his teacher.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Monday morning, Mushy marked his 27th birthday by sharing an emotional post on Twitter, where he has over 63,000 followers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He posted two images,\u00a0one of his younger self, and another of him now as a professional speaker.<\/p>\n<p>The caption said: &#8216;Today I turn 27 YEARS OLD. Which means 11 YEARS AGO I was on Educating Yorkshire.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I am so fortunate to live life sharing the power of teachers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I am proud to be someone who stammers, something one teacher helped me to accept in the classroom. One of my most favourite TV moments ever!!!! Happy birthday Mushy you\u2019re a massive inspiration&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Another added: &#8216;I&#8217;ve shown this clip to countless students over the years. Tears every time. Usually mine.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>And a third commented: &#8216;Yours was one of the most inspiring, uplifting and utterly brilliant stories from that series &#8211; what a journey &#8211; Happy Birthday Mushy &#8211; may your brilliant work continue.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A further social media user reminisced: &#8216;A totally amazing bit of television. Still gives me goosebumps when I think of it. Happy birthday.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>And another wrote: &#8216;Happy birthday, you&#8217;re an inspiration to so many people.
