Laura Anderson has hit back at online critics who have slammed her for letting her pet dog Buddy close to her newborn daughter Bonnie.

The ex-Love Island star, 34, was forced to address criticism she'd received after sharing a series of adorable photographs of her baby girl, who was born on 2 September.

As people told her to "get Bonnie away" from Buddy, one of Laura's fans commented: "People are so crazy my gosh some of these comments – don't like it don't follow".

Clearly thankful for the support, Laura then replied: "poor buddy, he literally goes nowhere near her bless him".

However, the majority of comments left under Laura's post about Bonnie were positive, with many flocking to congratulate the new mum.

"She's so alert! Such beautiful big eyes," one person wrote, while a second said: "Omg she is sooo adorable – how blessed you are. A wee bundle of joy as my mum used to say".

A third person added: "Gorgeous baby. Those eyes," and a fourth commented: "She's so precious".

The new photos come after Laura opened up about Bonnie's "horrendous" birth, revealing she suffered a vaginal tear and a postpartum haemorrhage that left her feeling "mentally quite torturous".

The traumatic event caused Laura to lose 1.6 litres of blood in the process, but thankfully the star is now at home recovering with her medication. While she takes the new chapter of motherhood in her stride, Laura gave a really detailed account on Instagram.

She described that she had four sweeps – something that is thought to help start labour – then suffered "horrendous contractions" after getting the non-hormonal cervical balloon to induce labour.

In the video, she said: "I was in the hospital and I was only one centimetre dilated but I just felt no one was taking me seriously. I was having contractions like every minute and a half and I was like this is a lot, and I have got so long to go, and I wasn't in the labour ward yet because you have to be four centimetres. I found it mentally quite torturous because I felt it was going to be so long with no pain relief."

She eventually ended up having an epidural and delivered her daughter at 6am. However, when it came to her own body, things weren't quite over yet as the star had a second degree tear and needed stitches.
