Junior Andre was born famous – the nation watched as his mother – model Katie Price, and his father – singer Peter Andre, fell in love on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, and just one year later, their son Junior Andre arrived on the scene.

His life was documented, to pretty much the same level as a Kardashian child, thanks to his parents’ popular reality shows that included Katie & Peter: The Next Chapter and Katie & Peter: Stateside, as well as their regular magazine photo shoots. When they split in 2009 they didn’t stop providing the content, and both Katie, 45, and Peter, 50, went on to have multiple series of individual reality shows.

That’s why a whole generation feels like they’ve watched Junior, now 18, and his sister Princess, 16, their whole lives.

‘People saw me as a baby up until pre-puberty. It’s weird how much they saw me grow up.

‘It’s so funny because up until a point my whole life was documented,’ Junior told Metro.co.uk.

‘Then it stopped as obviously I don’t do the shows anymore because they’re not a thing. I still see a few clips pop up on TikTok but I don’t sit down and watch the shows.

‘People haven’t seen me in a while but here I am back, and with my music,’ added Junior, who is currently promoting his second single Only One.

‘I think a lot of people still expect me to be a baby, but I love people so I’m always nice when the viewers of these shows want to come and chat to me. I’ve not had bad experiences of that.’

Junior doesn’t want to turn his back on his reality TV roots and has a big plan that we’re very much on board with.

‘Right now, I want to become established in music before I do anything else but in the future, I’m not opposed to reality as I grew up doing it.

‘I feel like eventually, if it’s still going in 10 years I’ll go on I’m A Celebrity. I have to, don’t I!’

However, you won’t catch Junior on the other ITV juggernaut – Love Island – as he’s officially ruled it out despite children of famous parents previously doing well on the show, including Danny Dyer’s daughter Dani Dyer, and Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma Owen.

‘I think it’s a good show but I just couldn’t see myself going on. It’s just not really my type of show.’

Of course, he has parents who have navigated the showbiz industry for years to guide him through.

‘They give me advice to just remain grounded, stay humble, treat people with respect, and spread love and positivity.’

He continued: ‘I do all my music on my own. My dad is a musician but he lets me do my own thing, but he will listen to my songs and he gives me helpful opinions.

‘We’ll talk about how much the music industry has changed. It’s different for me now compared to when he was starting out. He didn’t have social media to promote himself like I do.’

In fact, it was Peter who inspired Junior to begin singing after he took him to the studio at age 15. Junior went on to attend the famous BRIT school, which of course has some very famous alumni including Adele, Jessie J, and the late Amy Winehouse, and studied theatre.

Although, he is a big fan of his music having spent many years following him on tour and so we pressed Junior for his favourite Peter Andre song.

‘Mysterious Girl is a classic obviously. I can’t remember the first time I heard it. It’s just always been around.

‘I got to grow up around music. I felt like I was at home the very first time I went to the studio.’

However, when we ask Junior for his opinion on Katie and Peter’s cover of Aladdin’s A Whole New World, he informs us he’s never heard it.

Perhaps a duet between Junior and Peter could be in the future? ‘Never say never but obviously, I’m doing my own thing. I guess when I’m established enough to have a laugh you never know.’

Junior, who takes inspiration from old school R&B, 80s/90s music, as well as artists like Lloyd, Lil Wayne, Drake, Bruno Mars, and Justin Bieber may still be a teenager, but he’s already been very busy.

‘I must have made over 150 songs. It is harder writing music now, as I’m a young age and you need to have experience to be able to make good songs. I haven’t got as much life experience as someone who is 25 but anything I do go through I write about,’ he explained.

He knows enough about the complications of dating to write his latest single.

‘Only One is about feelings I’ve experienced, but not one particular person. I feel like in this generation, there’s a lot of fun and choices. There’ll be a lot of people saying that no, you are genuinely the only one I want to know and then a week later they’ll cheat or like they’ll be seen with another person.

‘So in this song, I’m saying you really are the only one. I’m saying that. It’s real.’

Junior Andre’s single Only One is out Sep 15 and available on all platforms

Got a story?

If you’ve got a celebrity story, video or pictures get in touch with the Metro.co.uk entertainment team by emailing us celebtips@metro.co.uk, calling 020 3615 2145 or by visiting our Submit Stuff page – we’d love to hear from you.
