Is it illegal to have sex on a plane and what is the Mile High Club? – The Sun | The Sun

HAVING sex during a flight might sound exciting to some, but it comes with a risk of getting caught and landing yourself in legal trouble.

Many over the years have bragged about joining the so-called ‘Mile-High Club’ – but here’s what the law says.

Is it illegal to have sex on a plane?

There is no such law in Britain that forbids someone from having sex on a plane.

However, there are some offences you’re at risk of committing.

Under section 71 of the Sexual Offences Act 2004, it is illegal to have sex in a toilet which the public has access to.

Randy couples who have romped on a plane automatically become a member of the Mile High Club.

It's a slang term for those who have had sex while thousands of feet in the air.

Who has been caught out having sex on a plane?

In 2007, Virgin tycoon Richard Branson admitted he became a member of the Mile High Club when he was 19 years old.

In an interview with GQ magazine, the billionaire – whose airline was the first to introduce double beds on its planes – said he sat next to a "very attractive lady" on a flight to Los Angeles.

He said: "We got chatting and it went a bit further. And it was every man's dream, to be honest. I was about 19, I think.

"I remember getting off the plane and she turned to me and said, 'Look, it's slightly embarrassing but I am meeting my husband at arrivals, would you mind holding back a bit …' But it was a memorable flight."

American reality TV superstar Kris Jenner has also admitted to getting frisky on a flight.

But she said it was the most embarrassing moment of her life when she was congratulated by a flight attendant who popped a bottle of champagne after having sex on a plane with ex-husband Bruce Jenner.

She said: "We had sex in the bathroom and we came out and nobody said anything. At the end of the flight, the flight attendant got on the microphone, 'Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Jenner! You've just joined the mile high club. We're so proud of you, and we decided to give you a bottle of champagne! Yay!'

"I could not squish down in my seat low enough. I was mortified."
