Nabisco is planning to start the new year off right! The food company, which produces Oreos and an array of other scrumptious snacks, confirmed that a new variety of America’s favorite cookie will be making its debut in early 2019.
Dark Chocolate Oreos are scheduled to hit shelves on Wednesday, January 2, and when they do, they will formally join the ever-growing roster of permanent tasty flavors, meaning there are no plans to swap them out for newer varieties anytime soon.
The latest addition to the Oreo family will consist of “dark chocolate-flavored creme sandwiched between two classic Oreo chocolate wafers,” according to Delish. The new flavor will also “help fans embrace the darkness and add a dose of playful excitement to the shorter and colder days ahead.”
As can be expected, social media is already littered with people who can’t wait to try these cookies. “This might be one I can get behind,” mused one potential fan. Added another: “Oh. My. Yum.”
This Oreo-related news comes about two months after Nabisco’s parent company, Mondelez International, confirmed that Most Stuf Oreos would be available beginning next month. “You guessed right. We can confirm the Most Stuf Oreo cookie is coming and it’s more playful than ever,” the company said at the time. “Our cookies will have more stuf and we’ll be giving away some really great stuff too.”
What’s more, there are also unconfirmed reports that Carrot Cake Oreos could be dropping in the spring. According to an Instagram account called Candy Hunting, these cake-inspired cookies will taste like the classic dessert and boast a center of cream cheese-flavored creme.
