And while Laura said that the letters normally focus on the positive and exciting things that have happened – like her brother getting a new dog or them going on a cool trip together – this year, her mother decided to let all 500 recipients know that she had recently gone through a hard breakup.

TMI? This year, Laura’s mother decided to let all 500 recipients know that she had recently gone through a hard breakup

Laura claimed on the video streaming platform that she and her husband of two years, Jake, decided to end their marriage over the summer – and it certainly wasn’t pretty.

TMI? Laura’s mom, Caroline’s VERY personal Christmas letter, which included intimate details on her divorce

‘Our 2022 could probably best be labeled as “a year of the unexpected” both in good and bad ways,’ the letter began.

‘You know the saying, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” But honestly, isn’t that just life?’

It goes on to explained that Laura and her husband-of-two-years, Jake, moved to Sevierville, Tennessee, together earlier this year, where they both landed jobs as performers at the Dolly Parton-themed amusement park, Dollywood.

‘All seemed well. But unfortunately, it wasn’t,’ the note continued. ‘Long story short, Jake did not need nor want to be married any longer.

‘He refused all suggestions of counseling, declared that he wanted a divorce, and began living as though he was single (to put it kindly). Laura was blindsided and devastated.’

Caroline explained that Laura finished her summer contract with Dollywood before moving back to Atlanta, where she now works at Simplicity Pediatric Therapy.

‘All things considered, she’s doing quite well, although, there is a lot of healing that still needs to happen,’ she concluded.

‘Her divorce became final on September 19, two days before what would have been her three-year wedding anniversary.

‘It has been hard watching someone we love so much go through such a painful time. But I am grateful that she is out of that toxic relationship.’

Laura explained on TikTok that her mother felt like she had to ‘let all of their readers know’ what had happened because they ‘couldn’t just have someone missing from the Christmas card with no explanation.’

‘I grew up in a very traditional southern family, we send out a Christmas card to 500 different families – some of them know us, some of them don’t really know us at all,’ she said in a video discussing the letter.

‘The Christmas card has a picture but in addition, it has a 10-point, Times New Roman, single space, double sided letter – like a newsletter, a family update of everything going on in my family’s life.

Laura said her mom had to ‘let all of their readers know’ what had happened because they ‘couldn’t just have someone missing from the Christmas card with no explanation’

Upon reading the note, Laura (seen with her parents) said she was ‘not thrilled with the information’ being shared to so many people

‘Every year it’s really exciting, like, “We went on a trip to Alaska,” or, “Laura graduated college,” or, “Travis got a dog,” all very exciting things.

However, she knew it would likely bring a lot of readers some entertainment, so she agreed to let her mother send it out

‘I’ve had a bit of a year in 2022 … and this year [my mom said] we can’t just have someone missing from the Christmas card with no explanation – even though I would have really liked to just pretend nothing happened.’

Laura told her followers that she wished her mother wrote something like, ‘Laura moved back to Georgia and no further questions,’ instead.

‘But no, we don’t get to do that because I have the most passive aggressive Southern mom in the entire world,’ she joked.

The newly-single TikToker added that she was dreading the Christmas report ever since her marriage came to an end.

‘I’ve been panicking about this newsletter,’ she continued. ‘Since May, June, when I knew I was not going to be married around Christmastime and that this year would be a total doozy to report.’

‘If my trauma from the year 2022 can bring these 500 strangers a small bit of joy than [whatever will be, will be] I guess,’ she said

‘Remember that one time my mom included ALL of the details of my messy divorce in our family Christmas letter? Because same,’ she captioned the clip

‘I don’t think that many people need to know this much information about me,’ she explained.

‘However, if I were to be a recipient of a letter like this, that would be the best thing I ever received.

‘I would frame it, I would open up a bottle of wine, it would be immaculate, I would love to receive this.

‘So if my trauma from the year 2022 can bring these 500 strangers – for the most part – a small bit of joy by hearing my mother absolutely say true things that did happen over the summer than [whatever will be, will be] I guess.’

‘My grandpa’s crazy wife after my grandmother passed once wrote in hers, how my uncle was murdered in his front yard and no arrests had been made,’ one viewer revealed.

‘Same… And then my mother proceeded to add a list of all the divorces in our family, including aunts, uncles and cousins – and the years they got divorced,’ another added.

‘My southern 80-year-old aunt sent out, “It’s been a great year for me but not so much for my ex-husband who died this year,”‘ someone else said.

‘My aunt’s Christmas letter last year is how I found out my cousin got divorced. It was very vague which I respect but oh I wanted more tea,’ a different user joked.

A fifth comment read: ‘My passive aggressive Alabama momma announced my divorced on last year’s Christmas card! Without even a warning to me. You are not alone.’
