Are waist trainers safe?
- They can help you lose weight, although mostly likely it will be from loss of fluids (i.e. sweat) rather than fat
- Due to the restrictions on your stomach your appetite could be decreased
- Wearing it for a short amount of time could encourage better posture
- Results are immediate while wearing a trainer and it will give the appearance of an hourglass figure
- Waist trainers can decrease lung capacity by 30-60 per cent which could cause fainting and inflammation or a buildup of fluid in the lungs
- Along with your waist, internal organs are being squeezed. Stomach acid can travel up to the oesophagus which can cause heartburn
- Internal organs can shift, especially when waist trainers are worn often often and for long periods of time. This could eventually lead to loss of function and permanent damage.
