Puff sleeve dresses are the eighties trend taking over Instagram

How the PUFF sleeve became a party season must-have! Eighties-inspired dresses are sweeping Instagram – and the bigger the shoulders the better

  • The latest fashion trend sweeping Instagram is statement puff sleeve dresses
  • This year saw the revival of Eighties fashion including leopard print and tutus
  • Trend has been spotted on top fashion influencers for a perfect day to night look

This year has seen a revival of all things Eighties, from leopard print to Lycra, plush velvet and even tutus.

The latest throwback to the decade of leg-warmers and purple eye shadow is the voluminous sleeve – with puffball dresses suddenly sweeping our Instagram feeds.

And style watchers at Who What Wear have now spotted that influencers across Instagram have been swapping last year’s Bardot neckline for dresses that incorporate much more fabric; the bigger the sleeves the better.

The revived look makes the perfect day-to-night outfit, taking you easily from the office to a stylish night out.

Speaking to Femail about the trend, celebrity stylist Lucas Armitage said: ‘We have seen the eighties have a huge influence in fashion for quite some time now.

‘High end houses such as Saint Laurent and Alessandra Rich frequently use the era as inspiration for their collections.

‘The puff sleeve mini has emerged as the most popular choice with bloggers and the fashion pack this party season.

‘The good news is that the dress is a fairly easy as it can be worn with 10 denier tights and heels, or ankle boots for a full eighties vibe.

‘The full sleeve is also a super flattering way of wearing a mini as it balances the body proportions and exaggerates the waist.’
