Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Moving Out Of Kensington Palace

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly ready to move out of Kensington Palace… and out of William and Kate’s shadow.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are expecting their first child, are moving into Windsor Castle’s Frogmore Cottage in Central London, and out of Kensington Palace, where their neighbors include Prince William and Kate Middleton. The transition seems to be part of the couple’s prep for their new chapter as first-time parents.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child. The couple have lived at Nottingham Cottage since their engagement last year,” an official statement read. “Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate. The Duke and Duchess’s office will continue to be based at Kensington Palace.”

Earlier this month, it was revealed the royals plan to split their courts, despite the initial assumption Harry and Meghan would live in a 21-bedroom home located on the Kensington grounds. Now that the couple is moving out, it’s becoming clearer that they’re set on forging their own path — one away from William and Kate.

“The arrival of Meghan has changed the dynamic of the relationship in a fairly significant way,” royals author Sally Bedell Smith told People of Harry and William. “It is inevitable and practical because it gives Harry and Meghan some freedom to build up their own collection of interests and charities. Meghan has very strong views on what she is interested in and that may be what Harry shares, but not what William and Kate share.”

The Queen gifted Harry and Meghan the Frogmore Cottage as a present, which is fortunate for the couple since it’s near the venue of their wedding party and engagement shoot — a location they clearly love. After renovations, it will be a 10-bedroom residence with space for a nursery, gym, and yoga studio. The Cotswolds pad — which they previously signed a lease for — will remain their country home.

According to the Daily Mail, Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, also played a part in the couple’s decision to move out. Not only did they want her to have her own room — something that isn’t possible with their current two-bedroom Kensington apartment — but they wanted her to have an entire wing. Ragland is looking forward to being a “hands-on gran,” so Harry and Meghan have allotted a larger space for her. It’s also believed she’ll stay with the family long-term, so it makes sense to make her more than comfortable.

Harry and Meghan’s move to a more remote area isn’t a surprise, considering they’re starting a family. William and Kate did the same when they had their first two children. They once lived in Norfolk, but moved back to London in early 2017 when their obligations as a royal couple started piling up.

We hope Harry and Meghan’s move won’t cause a rift between the two couples, and the Royal Fab Four remains as strong as ever.
