Nectar cards can be presented when shopping in a number of retail stores. Customers will earn points which can be exchanged for money off in shops such as Sainsbury’s.
Nifty cardholders can get even more points thanks to an update on the loyalty card.
Customers will usually have to show their Nectar card as well as their bank card when making a purchase.
However, it has introduced Nectar Connect so this is no longer needed to collect points.
How does it work?
Shoppers can link their debit or credit cards with their Nectar account so everytime they make a payment, Nectar points are automatically added.
When making a purchase at a participating Nectar store, the points will automatically be added to the card without the need to show a physical card or the app.
Customers simply need to sync their cards through the Nectar app.
When doing this for the first time, shoppers can get big bonuses as a reward.
They can pick up extra Nectar points to be used in various stores. These offers can be found on the app and tailored to individual shoppers.
Many people will use their Nectar card to shop in Sainsbury’s stores.
The retailer has recently shared an initiative to encourage Britons to buy more fruit and vegetables.
Between June 1 and June 28, customers will be able to get bonus points when buying their five a day.
This is tracked by the app and milestones can be achieved where users earn points throughout the month.
Savvy shoppers have the opportunity to earn as many as 750 points.
The bonus comes as part of Sainsbury’s’ commitment to ‘help everyone eat better’, which will make healthy eating more accessible.
Chief Marketing Officer at Sainsbury’s Mark Given commented: “As part of our new brand commitment to Help Everyone Eat Better, we are bringing back The Great Big Fruit and Veg Challenge and giving customers the opportunity to earn bonus Nectar points when they purchase fruit and veg throughout June.
“We hope that by participating in the challenge, customers are inspired to pack in more nutritious food, while getting more out of their points balance.
“As a supermarket serving communities across the country, we have a responsibility to encourage our customers to eat delicious food that is healthier for people and better for the planet.
“The challenge is one of the many ways we are doing this.”
The supermarket has also made commitments to reduce the amount of calories, sugar and salt in its own brand products.
