1. Dress for your body shape
London-based Anna Bey, 33, who teaches women how to date billionaires and be accepted into high society circles has revealed her top tips to making your wardrobe look ‘elegant’
Anna says: ‘Have clothes that are tailored to your body because that’s really how you are going to look expensive and elegant.
‘Think about your shape and what the garment covers and enhances. The hourglass figure is the luckiest because it can almost wear anything – but one thing you should avoid is shapeless clothes like oversized jumper dresses without a waist.
‘On the other hand if you are a rectangular body shape you don’t want to draw attention to your lack of waist, so you should create an illusion by wearing clothing with seams or cinched in at the stomach.
2. Dress for your height
‘Tall women should wear large prints and petite women should wear small prints.
‘Balance out the proportions in every aspect – so if you are shorter wear a smaller clutch, and more statuesque women should opt for a bigger evening bag.
Anna says that those with straighter shapes should go for stiff, structured material to give them more shape
3. Wear suitable fabrics
‘Silk can be tricky to wear if you are voluptuous as it can be unflattering and can show cellulite.
‘Hourglasses should opt for stretchy materials like jersey because they have that natural curve, and will move better with her when she walks unlike a stiff fabric.
‘Those with straighter shapes should go for stiff, structured material to give them more shape’.
4. Get your colour right
‘Don’t wear black if you’re pale, as it will wash you out – black is only really good for those with darker skin tones. The darkest blondes should go is navy blue.
‘Try to go for a more colourful pallette, for example wear baby blue if you’re blonde and brunette as it can bring out your eyes and features without distracting or washing you out – buy wow colours.
‘But don’t wear pink if you’re a redhead and avoid “domineering” colours that draw attention away from you a a person’.
Anna warns against wearing black if you’re pale, as it can wash you out and says black is only really good for those with darker skin tones, advising that the darkest blondes should go is navy blue
5. Know your skin undertone
‘The first thing you need to know is whether you have a warm or cold skin tone as this should dominate the make-up choices you make.
‘Get a colour analysis to help you decide on your wardrobe and make-up.
‘If you have a cool skin tone, warm copper blushers and lipsticks won’t work for you – you need something with a cool undertone.’
