Liberty Poole reveals the one cosmetic procedure she’s had done and her thoughts on plastic surgery

Liberty Poole proved to be the best friend we never knew we needed but most definitely wanted after months of watching her champion friendship and self-love on Love Island this year.

The 22 year old went through a big mental shift in the villa, coming to the realisation by the end of the 2021 series that, despite splitting from partner Jake Cornish shortly before the final, she felt like a winner because she was leaving with a new-found love for herself and her looks.

Since departing the villa and being thrown into the spotlight, has Lib’s resolve remained? OK! exclusively caught up with the Dancing on Ice 2022 star, and new Skinny Tan celebrity ambassador, on how she’s managing the pressure to look perfect on the outside world, her thoughts on cosmetic procedures, and what her beauty regime looks like now…

Lib, we’re still a little bit in love with you from when you said you’d always be a red lipstick girl, whether a man liked it or not. Please tell us your red lip collection is still going strong?

I really think confidence comes from within. You have to have self belief and self confidence, and a red lipstick, for me, boosts my confidence. I still like my MAC lipsticks. My red is either a Retro Red or Ruby Woo. For a nude it’s either Soar or Spice, and I also use NYX Cream Puff.

Speaking of confidence, do you feel any pressure to get anything cosmetic done?

You have to remember a lot of Instagram is fake, and no one is that perfect. Everyone has their blemishes so, personally, no. I’m happy with the way I look. The only thing I had to get fixed was my tooth. In Love Island I cracked my tooth and it was shorter than the others, so I had to get that fixed. But extreme stuff like surgery and nose jobs, no. Do what makes you happy, but for me, I’m not looking to change.

How did you crack your tooth? Jumping into the pool?!

No, I had a bit of composite bonding and I woke up once in the middle of the night with the piece in my mouth. It was quite dangerous, to be fair. But I had so much beauty drama in the villa! My hair went pink from one challenge, then the week later my tooth chipped.

What else helps you feel confident?

False eyelashes, and I love a tan. Heels are a big thing for me too – I wear really big heels all the time, everywhere I go. I’m only 5’2”, to be fair. Although I still can’t reach the top shelf in the supermarket – my mates still have to lift me!

Was there a big pressure to look perfect on Love Island?

I sort of forgot I was actually on TV. Looking back I see that I didn’t wear much makeup, and I always sat slouched. I wasn’t even considering where the camera would be. I sat there with my double chin out in the bean bag scenes!

We feel they did you dirty by zooming in close on the girls’ hair extensions!
They DID do us dirty! I had nano bonds and wefts in, but because of my accidental pink hair disaster, I had to take them out and swap them for tape extensions. I don’t like tapes, they show too much.

You’re looking as glowy as ever. How are you managing that without the Spanish sun?

Skinny Tan! I love fake tan, but I’ve had some disasters in the past. That’s why I like this brand – it gives a more “real” finish. I use the Coconut range. It applies clear and doesn’t get on clothes and bedsheets. It still gives a nice tan over time but not like a “BOOM!” obvious fake tan.
