When we heard the June heatwave was coming to an end, we assumed this meant our normal hair care regime could resume. Alas, not.

Despite the grey skies, this week comes with a whole lot of humidity and frizz for those of us with hair prone to expanding.

We don’t suggest you do a full Monica Geller and give yourself some all-inclusive kids club-style braids, but there are some adult-appropriate hairstyles and products that promise to tame frizz, keep curls intact, and help lengths remain sleek.

So, from stealing hair inspo from the perfectly polished Kate Middleton to investing in some quick-fix spritzes, here are the top frizz-fixing methods and products to try…

Try: Kate Middleton’s half-up style

Kate really is the queen of half-updos. They look good but also, by pulling back the front sections of your hair, they help tame frizz.

Since those front sections bear the brunt of sweat and heat from your forehead, they can often frizz faster than the rest of your hair. By copying Kate and pulling the hair quite tightly back from your face, you’re creating a sleek style – barely any effort needed.

This product only just hit Superdrug shelves yesterday. It has a humidity resistant complex, which combines cactus flower with biotin, and promises to give you long-lasting defined curls or waves. It'll also work on straight hair with the tendency to frizz.

Try: Modern Monica braids

We did say you don’t need to go the full Monica to beat humidity, but she had the right idea in opting for braids to cut down on frizz. Instead of going to the effort of creating dozens of small plaits, try the trending pigtail braids.

Not sure what they are? Look to Little Mix stunner Leigh-Anne Pinnock for inspiration. The new Maybelline ambassador shows how chic braids can look with this heatwave-perfect style.

Try: Living ProofNo Frizz Vanishing Oil, £31 here

Healthy hair really does start here. This oil blocks humidity, but also hydrates and smooths at the same time. The best part? You only need to smooth a few drops over dry hair for the frizz-fighting ingredients to work – no hair wash needed at all!
