Get this H&M cut-price designer collaboration before it sells out

Catch them while you can! H&M’s cut-price designer collaborations sell out in seconds. And this one will too

Since H&M launched its first designer collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld in 2004, the High Street chain has teamed up with some of luxury fashion’s biggest names.

Balmain, Lanvin, Erdem, Moschino, Marni, Versace and Kenzo have all brought their high-end design to those of us without high-end budgets, thanks to the hook-up. The frenzy that comes with each coveted collaboration guarantees they’re always a sell-out.

While you may not be familiar with Toga, the Toga Archives x H&M range, which is launched online and in selected stores on Thursday, is sure to be snapped up before the day is out. Founded by designer Yasuko Furuta, a regular at London Fashion Week since 2014, Toga’s aesthetic is best described as ‘quirky made accessible’ — think deconstructed blazers, asymmetric skirts, wrap-over trousers and tulle trench coats.

With prices ranging from £300 for a top to £900 for a pleated midi-skirt, the H&M collaboration brings the price down dramatically: there are Toga dresses costing from £99 and separates from £70.

You can expect the same experimental take on wardrobe classics, but with the eccentricity dial turned down a few notches. If you want workwear with a twist, head to the contemporary tailoring. A navy blazer is transformed with a cape detail fashioned from a patterned silk scarf (far right). A pair of wide-leg trousers (second from right) has a similar flourish — the front of the legs are slashed to the knee, with the same silk fabric underneath.

Cut-outs are a Toga signature. A knee-length beaded tunic has a large oval one over a hip (middle). It’s less revealing than it seems, as it’s intended to be worn over trousers or leggings. Try it over the collection’s gingham trousers.

On a full-skirted midi dress (second from left) a cut-out over one knee gives a feminine design a quirky edge.

Perhaps one of the prettiest pieces is a vintage-style dress in a dark, dramatic floral print (third from right) that feels perfect as we head into autumn.

This range has just the right number of playful touches to draw compliments without feeling try-hard. Another H&M collaboration that gets it spot on.
