Chance the Rapper’s wife is hoping people “grow up.”

About a week after Chance went viral for dancing “inappropriately” with another woman, his wife, Kirsten Corley, shared a cryptic message on her Instagram.

Corley-Bennett posted an excerpt from Maya Angelou’s essay “Home,” which discusses how most people never mature.

“Most people don’t grow up. It’s too damn difficult. What happens is most people get older. That’s the truth of it,” Angelou writes.

“They honor their credit cards, they find parking spaces, they have the nerve to have children, but they don’t grow up. Not really. They get older.”

The “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” author’s passage continues, “But to grow up costs the earth, the earth. It means you take responsibility for the time you take up, for the space you occupy. It’s serious business.”

The highlighted excerpt Corley, 29, shared concluded, “And you find out what it costs us to love and to lose, to dare and to fail. And maybe even more, to succeed.”

Corley captioned the post, “I hope one day, we all choose to grow up.”

Some fans called out the “Holy” performer, 30, for grinding on a woman who wasn’t his wife while partying at Carnival 2023 in Jamaica. He was also seen spanking her derriere.

However, others said the dancing was in the spirit of the cultural celebration and argued that viewers should “relax.”

Chance never publicly responded to the backlash.

The “No Brainer” rapper legally married Corley in 2018 before throwing a star-studded wedding ceremony in 2019. They have known each other since 2003.

The couple share two daughters: 7-year-old Kensli and 3-year-old Marli.
