Celebrations advent calendar outrage after it takes 12 days to get a Maltesers chocolate

The £5 calendar was branded a "letdown" by angry Twitter users who'd hoped to see their favourite Teaser chocolate appear much sooner.

The Christmas calendar hasn't been a hit with fans, as there was online outrage at a mini Bounty being behind the calendar's first window.

As the festive countdown continued, some fans became more and more grumpy at the lack of their favourite chocolates: a Malteser Teaser, a Galaxy or Galaxy Caramel.

A Maltesers chocolate finally appeared behind window 12 – but that was too long to wait for some chocaholics.

Jodie Everitt wrote on Twitter: "FUMING I had to wait till day 12 before receiving a Malteser in my celebrations advent calendar."

And Rachel Kennedy added: "The celebrations advent calendar is the biggest letdown of 2018 … 12 days in & only now the decent chocolate has started."

But some people were just happy to see their favourite chocolate appear in their calendar.

Dancing On Tables wrote: "If someone you know is especially happy today, I guarantee it’s because they finally got a Malteser in their celebration advent calendar."

A spokesman for Mars said: "A Mars Wrigley Confectionery spokesman said: “Our recent polling shows that everyone has different opinions on the Celebrations they want to see behind each door. That’s why every day offers a different surprise."

Some people are baffled by the online outrage.

They've questioned why some chocolate fans have chosen the calendar when they only like a few of the sweets in a box of Celebrations.

Sophie wrote: "If u got a celebrations advent calendar and u complained about the fact there was a bounty and a snickers in there (which are both celebrations??) ur a reprobate get the malteser advent calendar next time."

There are eight different chocolates in a box of Celebrations: Bounty, Snickers, Milky Way, Mars, Galaxy, Galaxy Caramel, Maltesers Teaser and Twix.

It's no wonder people were so angry about the late arrival of a Maltesers Teaser in their calendar.

Today, a Yougov study revealed that the chocolate is people's favourite in a box of Celebrations.

A recent study revealed that it's not just your imagination – there really are fewer of your favourite sweets in Christmas selection tubs.

And you're not getting as much chocolate as you think you are, as an investigation has revealed the packaging makes up nearly half of the total weight of Christmas chocolates.
