A SEEMINGLY normal five-bedroom home has gone up for sale for £1.75million… but it hides a very surprising secret.
The mansion in the Park estate of Nottingham has been built on top of jaw-dropping 19th-century caves – hid directly under the sweeping hall and modern living room.
The three-storey property in the leafy park estate of Nottingham has 3,100 square feet of floor space built into a massive 7,000 square foot contemporary home.
The column caves are designed by Alderman Thomas Herbert, a wealthy lace manufacturer, between 1850 and 1876.
They showcase Herbert’s remarkable collection of full-sized statues of gods, druidical figures and even Christ.
An artist's impression shows permission for an "iconic architectural masterpiece" built on top of the sandstone pillared caves.
