Tetley is looking to hire someone to drink tea and travel the world

Is there anything better than a humble cuppa?

If you live for daily tea breaks, then a new job opportunity could be right up your street.

Tetley is looking to recruit two graduate tea buyers who will get to sample different varieties of the warming beverage and, eventually, travel around the world to growing tea regions.

The hired individuals will get to try up to 300 different brews per day while they train to become a ‘tea master.’

After they complete the training, graduate buyers will be given the opportunity to build solid relationships with suppliers and growers around the globe and predict the next big trends in the world of tea.

Some other day-to-day responsibilities include supporting buyers and assistant buyers, organising tastings and working with the shipping department to monitor stocks in the supply chain.

Tetley has stressed that anyone thinking of applying must have a 2:2 level grade in any degree, as well as strong planning, time management and organisational skills.

Also, it doesn’t matter if you don’t consider yourself to be a tea connoisseur just yet.

A spokesperson for Tetley says: ‘10,000 hours of training across 450 skills need to be completed to be considered an expert, and that’s what we’re offering.

‘You don’t need to have a refined palate when you’re starting out, this is developed through our training and mentoring programme.’

The full-time positions will be based in London – although the brand is remaining tight-lipped about the salary, but have stressed it will be ‘competitive.’

Applications close on November 4 – so there’s no time to waste.

It’s worth pointing out that this isn’t the only intriguing job listing to pop up lately, as Bird’s Eye is willing to pay someone £1,000 to taste test chicken dippers.
