This is the debate Eloise Head’s new Fitwaffle recipe has sparked.
Combining pancakes, chicken, honey, peanut butter and berries, it’s all kinds of wrong for some foodies out there.
‘I absolutely love a sweet and savoury combo (even if it is controversial) and this pancake stack is such a delicious brunch recipe,’ Eloise posted.
‘I used the Birds Eye Chicken Shop Ultimate Fillet Burgers in this recipe. They’re super crispy and the perfect way to enjoy takeaway-style chicken at home.’
She named the alternative dish Brunch O’Cluck Pancake Stack.
The response has been varied.
One person wrote: ‘think u might have lost the plot’, with another joking: ‘hello police…I’d like to report a crime.’
But some did appreciate the clash in flavours, as someone said: ‘yasss love this combo’, while others wrote they need to try the dish.
Eloise, the creator of the recipe, says: ‘The sweet vs savoury debate has been around for a long time, so I’m excited to get involved – especially as I love a sweet and savoury combination – no matter how controversial!
‘I wanted to try something different in a meal that people wouldn’t expect.’
To make the dish for yourself, you’ll need:
- Thick pancake batter (enough for 3 medium pancakes)
- 2 Birds Eye Chicken Shop Ultimate Fillet Burgers
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- Raspberries, blueberries & strawberries
- Honey for drizzling
‘You could also use waffles instead of pancakes and swap the peanut butter and honey for maple syrup or your favourite sauce,’ Eloise adds.
