We all do it. We have all popped to the shops for one thing and returned with things we do not need, or things we already have.
It is just a fact of life. But it would definitely save us some time and some money if we could be more efficient with our food shops.
Thankfully, one mum has a trick she employs to make sure she doesn’t end up spending frivolously.
The Australian mum shared her hack on a Facebook group where it went down very well.
The woman revealed that instead of a shopping list, she takes a meal plan on her grocery trip.
Not only that, the woman lists all the ingredients in the recipes she’s going to make.
To make it easier, she highlights the items she already has, leaving her just with things she actually needs to buy.
And voila – you have all the ingredients you need to make everything you want for the whole week.
The trick includes listing all the leftovers you’ll have from the meals prepared.
But the clever mum also lists items she’ll need to turn those leftovers into a full meal.
This simple method has made life ‘ten times easier’ she said, and also saved money from overbuying things.
As a bonus, it also means you’re not wasting food and making the most of what you already have.
Instead of letting things rot and then throwing it away, you can use the method to consider how cupboard items can be best utilised.
If you’re meal-planning in this way, it also means you don’t have to think about what to make every day, or pop to the shops to pick up missing items, (which might mean picking up other random bits).
So save time, money, and effort with this nifty little trick.
