The humble chicken McNugget turns 40 this year, and to celebrate four decades of the golden crispy treats, McDonalds are releasing a limited edition run of four new dips.
For a limited time, Maccies enthusiasts will be able to get their hands on garlic mayo, mega hot sauce, chipotle mayo and creamy ranch dip.
You’ll have to wait until after Coronation weekend to try them, as garlic mayo and mega hot will drop on May 10th.
Then, from May 31st, chipotle mayo and America’s favourite creamy ranch will join the ranks. The dips will be available for a mystery length of time, ‘until stocks last’.
McDonald’s released the iconic McNugget back in 1979. It was an instant hit that the chain couldn’t keep up with demand. Chef René Arend, who perfected the McNugget, revealed that McDonald’s couldn’t actually supply that much chicken.
By 1983, this was fixed – and the McNugget was officially born.
The chain also says that are beloved nuggs come in four shapes: the bell, the bow-tie, the ball and the boot.
As part of the limited edition dip launch, Maccies is also bringing back the Big Tasty, as well as the Big Tasty with bacon and a new Spicy Big Tasty, a beef patty, made with Emmental cheese, lettuce, bacon, tomato and a little saucy jalapeno twist.
Vegetarians will be pleased to know that halloumi fries are back on the menu with its side of a rich tomato dip. For dessert, Wispa and Wispa Gold McFlurry’s are on the menu.
