King Charles III is now the monarch – but what is his favourite meal? The King’s ideal supper was previously revealed during a TV interview.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine earlier this year, Royal Editor Russell Myers discussed how then-Prince Charles was looking to hire a new private chef, and he also divulged the monarch’s most-loved foods. 

He asked host Lorraine Kelly: “What do you think Prince Charles’ favourite food is?”, to which she replied: “I don’t know, Lark’s tongue?! I’ve no idea”.

Russell answered: “It’s more simple. It’s a boiled egg.” Lorraine told him: “I could maybe do that.”

The royal commentator added: “However, his ideal meal is wild mushroom risotto with organic lamb.

“But the mushrooms obviously must be foraged from his own estate.”

Back in 2020, former royal chef Darren McGrady told Delish: “I cooked lamb a lot at Buckingham Palace. Prince Charles… he was a foodie, into organic farming before it was even invented.

“He loves wild mushrooms and would take his chefs to Balmoral to show them where the best mushrooms are. 

“We brought them back to Buckingham Palace and they were the most amazing porcini mushrooms.”

Behavioural expert Darren Stanton previously spoke to Express.co.uk comparing King Charles and Queen Camilla’s dietary preferences.

Charles prefers things like eggs and organic foods, whereas Camilla reportedly likes spicy and garlic-laden foods, plus fresh homegrown vegetables.

Darren said: “Charles has a very simple palette, enjoying eggs for breakfast whilst Camilla enjoys spicier food and especially garlic – despite members of the Royal Family usually choosing to avoid it.

“The differences in their food tastes could be reflective of their different personalities and how one complements the others,” the expert added.t

What are their different personalities?

Darren commented: “While Charles is more regimented in nature, Camilla isn’t afraid to take risks.

“But that doesn’t stop the pair from having fun and genuinely enjoying each other’s company.

“Such differences seem to be what makes their marriage work so well.”

Charles founded Duchy Organics in 1990, with the aim of championing organic farming.

The first product to be sold under the brand was oaten biscuits and the company soon began enjoying a good reputation among consumers.

In 2010, the King collaborated with Waitrose to setting up a new company called Waitrose Duchy Organic.

The brand has generated over £30 million for The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund (PWCF) since the companies merged, according to Waitress.
