‘Tis the season to be cosy. All we want to do is snuggle on the sofa covered in blankets, and no cosy evening is complete with a warm mug of hot chocolate.
To take your snuggle game up to the next level, you need to get your hands on a ‘hot chocolate bomb’. Because they really do look absolutely delicious.
The innovative chocolatey invention is actually a lot less violent than the name suggests. You simply pop a ‘bomb’ into your mug and slowly pour warm milk on top of it.
This is where the magic starts to happen. The hot milk melts the chocolate until it eventually bursts open to reveal cocoa powder and tonnes of marshmallows.
Give the whole thing a good stir and you’ll be left with a seriously indulgent, rich, creamy mug of hot chocolate, complete with marshmallows. Ideal.
Self-taught baker Jen from Sweets by Jen shared a video showing what her DIY decadent dessert can do, and people were, understandably, excited.
The clip, which was filmed in Jen’s kitchen in Green Bay, Wisconsin, has since blown up on social media with more than 15 million views so far.
In the video, you can see exactly how the tantalising process works. Jen slowly pours the milk over her ‘bomb’ and you see the chocolate begin to melt in a concentrated spot.
Then the bomb flips over in the warm milk and bobs for a second before cracking open to reveal its deliciously sweet interior.
Jen wrote her gratitude to all her fans in a social media post a few days after posting her original video. Sadly, she also revealed that the bombs wouldn’t be available to order – but she might reveal her secret recipe and how to make them at home.
‘This was something I did for fun and thought I could offer to local clients,’ wrote Jen. ‘After much thought and consideration I have decided to continue to do what I love most which is decorating royal icing cookies and offering them to my local clientele.
‘I am hoping to make a how-to video for the hot chocolate bombs. I hope you will follow along and continue to support me and understand that I need to do what is best for me and my family.’
We will be waiting with bated breath for that how-to video.
