We test overnight face masks that claim to hydrate and repair your skin | The Sun

IF you want to be a sleeping beauty, an overnight mask will get deep into your skin for hydration and repair.

Today I look at the masks that claim to leave you with a radiant complexion by the time the alarm goes off.

ALDI Lacura overnight plumping face mask (£5.99 for 50ml, aldi.co.uk): The product is part of a new Sleep Better range.

Formulated with hydrating star arvensis and hyaluronic acid and soothing speedwell extract, this bedtime essential will hydrate and plump skin overnight to reveal a noticeably radiant and well-rested complexion post-slumber.

Available to pre-order online from today and in stores from August 28.

The results were not quite as good as the other two but for skin that isn’t too dehydrated or parched, it gives a glow the next day.

This mask had the best smell by far.

A mix of lavender, eucalyptus, vetiver and jasmine, which was amazing and is great for helping you to drift off to sleep.

LIZ Earle CICA restore skin paste (£30 for 50ml, lizearle.com): Wake up to healthier-looking skin with Liz Earle Beauty’s creamy mask-treatment hybrid.

Perfect for dry skin prone to redness, this gentle yet powerful blend is enriched with Centella asiatica (CICA), an ancient herb renowned for its restorative properties, plus hydrating resurrection plant, bilberry and wild plum to calm, soothe and comfort.

Working alongside the body’s natural night-time rejuvenation processes, the mask delivers 48 hours of intense hydration.

The thick paste glided and then sank into my skin without a trace.

There was still a film of cream enveloping my skin the next morning. Very nourishing.

It did feel a bit tingly for a couple of minutes after application but I do have very sensitive skin. My favourite.

PERRICONE MD multi-action overnight intensive firming mask (£82 for 59ml, perriconemd.co.uk): Designed to work most effectively at night when skin needs nourishment, the velvety-rich face mask claims to give powerful results while you sleep.

This rich coconut oil face mask features DMAE, which is produced naturally by the brain, and has anti-inflammatory and skin-firming properties, plus the antioxidant alpha lipoic acid to reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, pores and loss of radiance.

This had the texture of yoghurt and you only need a tiny bit.

It instantly sank into my skin to give a glow but it had an odd smell, slightly like the bleach foil smell when you are at the hairdressers.

But it works. It definitely plumps out dry and dehydrated skin a treat.
