Throat Threads Apparel is bringing L’Agence, the California-based women’s label, to Canada.
Throat Threads, which also serves as the distributor for Robert Graham, John Varvatos, NYDJ, Adidas and other brands in that country, will begin selling the collection to high-end department and specialty stores in Canada starting with the spring ’21 season. The anchor wholesale partner will be Holt Renfrew, according to Jeff Wellwood, director of marketing for the Toronto-based company.
“We recognize the consumer shopping experience is evolving within this diverse retail environment,” said Philippe Binda, president of Throat Threads. “The synergies of Throat Threads’ sales, marketing and logistics infrastructure and L’Agence’s unique collection, will be a successful collaboration. We look forward to showcasing L’Agence and we are very excited to see this brand flourish.”
Wellwood said he expects the Canadian customer will be drawn to L’Agence’s luxury offering at a more affordable price point. He pointed, as an example, to the double-breasted blazers with gold buttons that are “very Saint Laurent,” but at one-third the retail price.
Earlier this month, L’Agence, which is known for its California-skewed collection with a nod to Paris, launched a loungewear collection for holiday called Lux Lounge. In July, the brand launched footwear. L’Agence traces its history to 2008 and is known for its classic silhouettes suitable for work, brunch or date nights. In 2015, the brand introduced denim, which counts the likes of Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Cindy Crawford, Karlie Kloss, Jennifer Lopez and Kaia Gerber, to name a few, as brand ambassadors.
