Meghan Markle latest news – Duchess 'SNUBBED' by Prince Charles who didn't include her in baby Archie birthday message

MEGHAN Markle completely misread her royal status and felt "shunted off" by not living in Kensington Palace, it has been claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex was "drawn in" by the fantasy of royal life after marrying Prince Harry – but was completely unready for the significantly less glam reality, author Tom Quinn told the Pod Save the Queen podcast.

She reportedly felt "disappointed" at having to live in a "little" Frogmore Cottage rather than the considerably grander Kensington Palace where Prince William and Kate Middleton are raising their children.

But it was actually Nottingham Cottage, Harry and Meghan's first UK home, which sits inside the grounds of Kensington Palace, that first hammered home the reality of Meghan as a second-tier royal, Quinn claimed.

"I think that actually, she wasn’t too keen on that," he said.

"It seemed like they were being shunted off to a little prefab in the grounds," Quinn added.

    ‘NO SIMILARITIES’

Critics have pointed out Meghan’s new book bears similarities with The Boy and The Bench written by Corrinne Averiss.

But Corrinne has tweeted in response to the claims and said she sees no similarities.

She wrote: “Reading the description and published excerpt of the Duchess’s new book, this is not the same story or the same theme as The Boy on the Bench. I don’t see any similarities.”

HARRY HOPES HIS NEW OPRAH SHOW WILL ‘SAVE LIVES’ AND HELP PEOPLE ‘OPEN UP’

Harry told the Daily Telegraph in 2019: “When I did your podcast two years ago the response made me realise what an impact sharing my story could have, and what an impact other stories can have for so many who are suffering silently,” he explained.

“If the viewers can relate to the pain and perhaps the experience, then it could save lives, as we will focus on prevention and positive outcomes.

“What I have learnt and I continue to learn in the space of mental health, mental illness and self-awareness is that all roads lead back to our mental wellbeing, how we look after ourselves and each other.”

The TV series will focus on mental illness and wellness and aims to encourage viewers to open up on their own mental health struggles.

PRINCE HARRY SLAMMED AS ‘CUT RATE-ED SHEERAN’ BY TALKRADIO HOST

Prince Harry has been described as a “cut-rate Ed Sheeran” after his appearance at the VAX Live concert.

talkRADIO’s Mark Graham said: “The Duke of Netflix as I now call him has decided its a good idea to turn up at a rock concert, a charity concert, with the likes of J-Lo and the Foo Fighters.

“He was in California on his own, turning up on stage looking like a cut-rate Ed Sheeran.

“Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex was the big name above him on stage.

“Now call me old-fashioned but that doesn’t sound like someone who wants to guard their privacy particularly well.”

    ‘WRONG PRIORITIES’

Meghan has written a children’s book about the bond between a father and son – which is inspired by Prince Harry and their son Archie.

But royal expert Duncan Larcombe, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story, says the Duchess’ first priority should be mending the broken relationships with royals, not turning her hand to kids’ stories – and it “won’t go down well” with them.

Duncan told Fabulous that the release of her first book “simply shows the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have got their priorities all wrong”.

He told Fabulous: “With relations between Harry and William at a ‘sensitive stage’ since last month’s funeral reunion, news the children’s book will hit the shelves in June won’t go down well with the Palace.

“Her first book might not set the literary world on fire but it’s release will do little to dampen the flames still burning after Meghan’s Oprah betrayal.”

    ROYAL RETURNS

The Queen has today wished her great-grandson Archie a happy second birthday with a touching picture of him with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

A post on the Royal Family's official Instagram account read: "Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today."

    'RIDICULOUS'

Meghan Markle's use of her Duchess of Sussex title her new book is "laughable" after she wanted to cut Royal ties, a royal expert has said.

The Duchess penned her children's book The Bench after originally writing a poem for Harry's first Father's Day from Archie, who will turn two next month.

On the front cover, the mum-to-be's pen name is given as: "Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex".

Author Angela Levin says the use of any title in this context is "ridiculous".

WILLIAM ‘CAN’T TOLERATE’ HOW MEG TREATED KATE

Prince William cannot tolerate how his sister-in-law Meghan Markle has treated Kate Middleton, a senior royal source claimed.

The Duke of Cambridge reportedly felt that his wife Kate tried to help Meghan at the beginning but that it was “never enough”.

Speaking to the Mail Online the insider said how although there was much made of the troubles between Kate and Meghan, the biggest strain now exists between the Duchess of Sussex and William.

The main issue between the in-laws, according to the insider, is how Meghan has treated Kate and how her efforts to help the new royal were “constantly misinterpreted”.

“First and foremost, William cannot countenance the way Meghan has treated his wife,” the source said.

But Amazon, Waterstones and Foyles have already slashed the price down to £9.99 – each boasting a 23 per cent saving of £3.

    MEGABUCKS

Meghan Markle may have been paid up to £500,000 as an advance for her kids' book, a royal biographer has said.

Angela Levin believes the Duchess could have been handed the handsome some for writing The Bench which is expected to retail at £12.99.

"We don’t know yet whether Meghan got an advance but there are rumours that she was offered 500,000 advance," the author of Harry said.

"The book is being sold for £12.99. That’s not extortionate but I’m not quite sure who will read it.

"Little children I don’t think will read that, maybe it will be people who just want to know what she’s up to now."

INSIDE THE LIFE OF HARRY AND WILLIAM’S STEP-SISTER

Most second marriages often see the introduction of new family members and Prince Charles’ marriage to wife Camilla Parker-Bowles was no different, with Camilla’s two children being welcomed into the fold.

Camilla is mum to son Tom Parker-Bowles, 46, and daughter Laura Lopes, 43, who she shares with Andrew Parker-Bowles, 81 – her first husband who she was married to for over 20 years.

But while you might have forgotten about them, both Tom and Laura have been regulars at Royal events over the years, with Laura even given the likes of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle a run for their money in the style stakes.

She first made her public debut with the Royal family at her mother’s wedding to Prince Charles in 2005, where she was seen cosying up to her new step-family, including Prince William and Prince Harry, in the photos.

Since then, Laura likes to live her life away from the Palace and the public eye, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still pretty glamorous.

CHARLES ‘DEEPLY’ MOVED BY PHILIP’S MILITARY FUNERAL

Prince Charles said he was “deeply” moved by Prince Philip’s military funeral, and told squaddies “you did him proud” today.

The royal visited Combermere Barracks in Windsor today, and gave a short speech thanking the soldiers for their efforts.

He said: “Enormously proud of those of you who formed part of the regiment doing my father’s funeral recently.

“If I may say so, a wonderful credit not only to the Royal Welsh Guards but to the household division and all those who were on parade for what you all did.

“I know my family and I were deeply moved by the way you all performed your duties and people from other countries rang me up to say they’d never seen anything quite so beautifully done with such dignity and style.

“And of course it is something that you are all rightly famed but I know my father would have been enormously touched because he had dreamt up this, particularly the way he wanted it done. So you did him proud and you certainly made your old Colonel. for what it’s worth. very proud indeed.”

UNCLEAR HOW MEG AND HARRY WILL CELEBRATE ARCHIE'S BIRTHDAY TODAY

It is not clear how Harry and Meghan will mark Archie’s birthday today.

Last year they shared a video of Meghan reading from his favourite book Duck! Rabbit! to support Save the Children.

Archie – looking the spitting image of his red-headed dad – could be seen giggling as he helped turn the pages while Harry quacked in the background.

As Meghan finished up the book, she cuddled and kissed her son’s head as Harry cheered “the end”.

Happy Archie then looks at his dad grinning as he chews on the corner of the book – babbling “dada”.

    LEGAL BATTLE RETURNS

Meghan’s legal battle is back in court today as she fights for damages over a “personal and private” letter to her estranged dad.

The Duchess of Sussex won her privacy row against the Mail on Sunday in February after it published extracts of a five-page letter she wrote to Thomas Markle.

The latest round in her battle is being heard at the High Court today – with Lord Justice Warby to deal with what “financial remedy” Meghan can pursue at a later hearing.
