"Of course there are a million turkey recipes out there but for some reason none of these chefs are using this special paste.

"No shade to the compound butter on turkey lovers, butter is a great addition to turkey, but personally I think the best way to make turkey is using mayo.

“That’s right, half mayo and half yoghurt.”

In the clip, we see the chef mix together a bowl of half mayonnaise and half yoghurt to create the baste for her turkey.

She explains that she uses this instead of butter, as it will retain moisture for longer, so when you incorporate the spices, all of that flavour will absorb on the skin and underneath.

The savvy chef confirmed in a follow-up video that the bird won't taste like mayo if you use her recipe, as it cooks down and the spices are the dominant flavour.

TikTok users loved her recipe and were eager to reflect this in the comments.

One person wrote: "Makes so much sense. Mayo is used to create a crust and yoghurt is there to tenderise. This is smart."

While another said: "I used mayo six years ago and it was the best turkey I ever had! I never looked back."
